American Trench Sol Le Witt Stripe Socks Grey
American Trench socks are knitted in the Hickory region of North Carolina at a family owned knitting mill operating at the same location for over thirty years. The Hickory region has been a concentrated centre for hosiery knitting mills, yarn spinning companies, and dye houses stretching back to the 1930s and 40s.
American artist Sol LeWitt (1928 – 2007) became prominent in the middle of the 20th century and was linked to both the conceptualism and minimalism movements. He worked in a variety of mediums including paintings, drawings, print making, and installations. American Trench drew inspiration for these socks from the “wall drawings” series, particularly his later works composed of solid bands of bold primary and secondary colours.
